Flexible assets are growing fast and the Dutch company Repowered needs forecasting that can keep pace. With rebase.energy, the team relies on accurate automated forecasts that support daily operations in a volatile energy market.
Repowered is a Dutch energy company focused on flexible assets such as large grid connections, batteries, hydrogen applications, and solar parks. Founded in 2019 and backed by decades of combined energy experience, they work to ensure renewable energy is available at the right time, in the right place and for the right value.
“Our goal is to optimize these assets and maximize their value,” says Alfred Rodenboog, Senior Data Scientist at Repowered. He leads the data science team, which is responsible for forecasting the production of all assets and using these forecasts to trade energy and optimize assets in real time.
“If we see that too much power will be generated, we can scale production down or use our batteries to absorb it,” he explains.
Before working with rebase.energy, Repowered relied on another external forecasting provider. The process was manual.
“We had to send emails with all the asset details, and they would generate the forecasts. If something was off, fixing it was a very manual and time-consuming process,” Alfred says.
As Repowered evaluated new providers, automation and performance became key requirements.
“We were looking for a fully automatic setup, where we could send data from our system to another and get a forecast back without any manual work. When we benchmarked providers, rebase.energy stood out in terms of performance.”
Another decisive factor was the collaboration.
“The onboarding was easy, the communication fast. If there was an issue, rebase.energy came back in minutes! With more corporate providers, you submit a ticket and wait hours. With rebase.energy, the support was on a completely different level.”
The main use for Repowered is forecasting for wind and solar assets. They send real performance data to rebase.energy daily so the models can be continuously fine-tuned. “We get updated forecasts every couple of hours. Everything is automated through the API, which is great.”

The platform is also used in feasibility studies and consultancy projects.
“For potential clients or theoretical cases, we can send the site information to rebase.energy and get realistic forecasts back, even for past years. That allows us to model scenarios accurately and show clients what an optimised asset would have looked like.”
Alfred continues and pinpoints his favourite features.
“For us it’s definitely the forecasts and the API. The automation is what makes it powerful.”
He also notes that the dashboard is a useful tool for checking assets and identifying issues.
The platform’s flexibility allows Repowered to run manual case work, simulate assets and perform analyses for consultancy projects without any limitations.
Alfred says rebase.energy has fully lived up to his expectations.
“Yes, absolutely. I’ve been in contact with them for years, even before they became our main provider. We tested them early on, and they always delivered. If something was unclear, they took responsibility and explained the root cause. They really understand our challenges.”

Repowered moved all assets to rebase.energy last year, after working with them in various ways for at least two years.
“It’s a very modern and highly automatable platform with strong accuracy and a great team behind it. The automation, the easy setup and the support take it over the top – you set up the process once and it just works, and if something doesn’t work, there’s always someone you can talk to.”
