rebase.energy provides a scalable way to handle forecasts for hundreds, soon thousands, of units

Qurrent on working with rebase.energy

Qurrent focuses on connecting and managing renewable energy assets to ensure they are used as effectively as possible. Together with rebase.energy, the company has built a scalable workflow to manage their expanding virtual power plant.

Nils Kernell, Co-founder and CTO, leads the technical development for the Swedish company.

"Qurrent is an optimizer and aggregator of energy resources," Nils says. "To ensure that solar parks, wind farms, and especially battery storage are used as effectively as possible, we connect them, optimize them, and trade them on different types of energy markets."

Before the partnership with rebase.energy, Qurrent worked with a legacy provider. The need for a more modern solution led them to make the switch.

"The biggest advantage of rebase.energy is their modern approach. They provide a web app for easy configuration, and the entire platform is API-driven with modern interfaces for creating and retrieving forecasts," Nils explains.

I also personally think they are great people to work with. They are a strong team.

In daily operations, the technical integration allows Qurrent to manage their growing portfolio of decentralized resources.

"We manage hundreds, soon thousands, of units," Nils says. Having a scalable way to handle these forecasts is essential, and rebase.energy has been able to facilitate that.”

Today, Qurrent uses rebase.energy’s data to optimize algorithms and handle physical grid constraints.

"Using a range of forecasts allows us to see exactly how much capacity we can trade," Nils explains. "By forecasting how much of the grid connection the solar and wind production will use, we know exactly how much capacity is available for the battery."

Nils describes the technical setup and the ongoing dialogue with rebase.energy as effective.

"I would recommend them if you want a modern platform for managing and handling forecasts," Nils says. "I also personally think they are great people to work with. They are a strong team."

As Qurrent continues to scale, the relationship continues to strengthen.

"We get more and more engagements together every year," Nils says. "We have been working together for two years now, and I see it growing every year".
